Remembering Our Roots
William’s Irish Tavern is the fulfillment of a vision and was years in the making. Three local friends dreamt for years about a local gathering place, a pub style atmosphere, to meet and talk after work and even to bring the family for a quick bite to eat. The resulting restaurant and bar, which launched in 2016, embodies the spirit of a founding father of Washington Borough, Colonel William McCullough, who built the township’s first ever tavern.
William’s Today
Today, William’s Irish Tavern is lovingly referred to on social media as #Willys – we’re not sure Colonel McCullough would approve, but we’re pretty sure we could win him over with our shepherds’s pie and a pint. Plenty of our Washington, NJ neighbors have already stopped in for a wee nip or a hearty meal – and most to sample our great selection of beer. Not only do we serve the best Guinness in town, but our rotating taps will satisfy any beer taste. From stouts to IPAs, ales to lagers, these beers are often local and always stupendous.
The tavern boasts plenty of screens to watch the game or catch up on the world after work. We also offer plenty of tables to share a private conversation, and a patio to enjoy when the weather is fine.
